Young Noble von den Outlawz und Regisseur Omar „Ice Man“ Sharif haben die Rechte erhalten einen Film über Tupac Shakur’s Mutter Afeni Shakur zu drehen. Der Film soll „Dear Mama: The Life Story Of Afeni Shakur“ heißen und sowohl über ihre Kindheit und ihr Engagement bei den Black Panthers handeln, als auch ihre Drogenprobleme, den Tod ihres Sohnes und ihren Kampf um 2Pac’s unveröffentlichtes Material thematisieren.
Der Film wird über Noble’s und Sharif’s Produktionsfirma HollyHood Filmz erscheinen. Afenis Shakur’s Amaru Entertainment wird ebenfalls in die Produktion involviert sein. Young Noble über das Projekt:
„The Dear Mama story is long overdue. I’m just so blessed to be in a position to produce this movie and make sure Afeni and Pac is proud when it’s done. This movie will offer hope and be an inspiration to the millions of people who will see it. This incredible lady defended herself in court while pregnant with Tupac during a bomb conspiracy trial, facing 352 years and was acquitted of 156 counts against her and 20 other members of the Black Panther Party. I felt that the world needs to know where Tupac got his mind, heart, spirit and courage, so I called Afeni with the idea. She was excited and gave me her blessing. The rest will be movie history.“
Weiterhin wird ein Soundtrack zu „Dear Mama“ erscheinen, der von Young Buck und den Outlawz über Cashville Records/1nationentertainment produziert wird. Der Soundtrack soll unter anderem Musik von T.I., 50 Cent, Young Buck, den Outlawz und ihren Schützlingen Stromey und Begetz enthalten.
