ATL Rapper Gucci Mane hat zusammen mit Czar Entertainment ein Label namens So Icey geformt und damit bei Asylum/Atlantic unterschrieben. Todd Moscowitz der Präsident der Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group (ILG) freut sich über den Deal:„It was a great coup for us to land Gucci Mane. He’s one of the most charismatic and acclaimed rappers on the street, with an extraordinary life story and the authenticity and talent to back it up.“
Auch Craig Kallman, CEO von Atlantic Records sieht in Mane einen Rapper mit Potenzial: „He is a brilliant rapper and a fantastic character who is injecting real originality and humor into the hip-hop landscape. Since releasing his first album two years ago, he has emerged as a compelling true-life storyteller with a unique voice and undeniable star power. I am thrilled to welcome Gucci and his So Icey label into the Atlantic and Asylum family.“
Gucci Mane’s letztes Album „Hard To Kill“ erschien letzten Oktober. Sein neues Album ist für diesen Sommer angekündigt und soll mit Features von Pimp C, Rich Boy und der R&B Gruppe Silk aufwarten. Beats werden wohl unter anderem von Nitti und Shawty Redd beigesteuert.
