Vor zwei Tagen wurde ein Video auf dem YouTube-Channel von „15MOFERADIO“ veröffentlicht. Die Caption lautete: „DRAKE DROPS 150K ON BATTLE WINNER OF GEECHI GOTTI VS RUM NITTY ON NOME XI“. Es handelt sich hierbei um einen Battle-Rap zwischen GEECHI GOTTI und RUM NITTY, wobei die beiden gegeneinander antreten müssen und der Gewinner das ausgeschriebene Preisgeld von 100.000 Dollar bekommt. Drake erhöhte das Preisgeld jedoch um weitere 50.000 Dollar.
„Me and you have been invested in this for a long time. I’ve been emotionally invested in this for a long time and just watching you grow and the conversations that we have had about just trying to make the access wider, easier for people, and you know for me the world just needs to see all these individuals you know? In dem knapp fünfminütigen Video ist keines der Battles zu sehen. Lediglich Drakes Ansprache und eine Moderation werden hier gezeigt. Drake und der Moderator thematisierten außerdem noch die lyrischen Effekte und wie diese sich mit der Zeit im Hip-Hop veränderten: „Everything in the rap space is competitive. This is like the truest form of that. What we all do is we compete to have the biggest records of the biggest votes or hopfully like the most impactful moments but in here once you walk through that door there’s no turning back. I mean it’s like it really is the purest form of what we do and what any rappers do“, so der Rapper.
