Am Wochenende wurden in Los Angeles die diesjährigen BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards vergeben. Dabei gingen die Preise in mehr als 20 Kategorien an Künstler, Sportler und Schauspieler aus der Welt des Black Entertainments. Natürlich war dabei auch die Creme de la Creme der US Hip Hop Szene zu Gast. Ja auch DJ Khaled mit Sohn Asahd.
Die großen Gewinner des Abends stellten keine großen Überraschungen dar. So gewannen neben den üblichen Verdächtigen um Beyoncé (Best Female R&B/Pop Artist) oder Kendrick Lamar (Best Male Hip Hop Artist) auch die Migos (Best Hip Hop Group) und, ok kleine Überraschung, Remy Ma vor Nicki Minaj (Best Female Hip Hop Artist). Nach 7 Jahren in Folge hat erstmal jemand anderesals Nicki Minaj diesen Award gewonnen. Bei ihrer Siegerrede ließ es sich Remy natürlich nicht nehmen ein weiteres Mal gegen ihre Erzfeindin Nicki Minaj zu schießen:

Ein weiteres Highlight spielte sich auf dem roten Teppich ab. So saß das „Everyday Struggle“ Team um DJ Akademiks und Joe Budden mit den Migos zusammen beim Gespräch, ehe Akademiks die Migos „one of his favorite“ Groups nennt. Daraufhin steht Joe Budden kopfschüttelnd auf und lässt sein Mic auf den Boden fallen. Diese Respektlosigkeit passt Quavo, Takeoff und Offset natürlich gar nicht. So kommt es zu einer aufgeheizten Rudelbildung:

Allerdings ging es an diesem Abend ja nicht darum, irgendwelche Beef-Geschichten auszutragen, sondern die größten Stars und Talente aus der Welt des Black Entertainments zu ehren.

Following the 2017 BET Awards, members of Everyday Struggle were backstage for the pre-show festivities. Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks and Nadeska Alexis soon interviewed the Migos for a special edition of the most popular urban pop culture at the moment – and something went way left field.
During questions, AK mentioned how group member Takeoff was the butt of a joke pertaining to being left off their group’s critically-acclaimed hit, “Bad and Boujee.” Well, the Atlanta collective wasn’t fond of the awkward question and situation, as you can take a look at the brief clip above.

After 7 consecutive summers, the BET Best Female Hip-Hop Award finally went to a different star – not named Nicki Minaj. Remy Ma was granted her crown in Los Angeles, as she thanked Papoose and Fat Joe for their support during his darkest hours. Before leaving the stage, she soon threw shade at Ms. Minaj, after dethroning her foe at the event; and spit an impromptu verse that had the crowd in shock.
