Da übers vergangene Festivalwochenende einige postenswerte Musikvideos auf der Strecke geblieben sind, soll hier der Vollständigkeit halber nochmal das Wichtigste in aller Kürze zusammengefasst werden.
So droppte Südstaaten-Veteran 8 Ball mit „Good Girl, Bad Girl“ das erste Video aus seinem am 24. Juli erscheinenden Album „Life’s Quest„.
Roc Marciano und der englische Produzent The Purist veröffentlichten das Video zum Song „Change“ aus The Purists „Double Feature„-EP, die es bereits hier zu kaufen gibt.
Westcoast-Untergrund-Representer Murs kam mit dem Video zu seinem Song „Animal Style“ aus dem Projekt „Love & Rockets Volume 1: The Transformation„, auf dem er ein Thema anspricht, was auch nach Frank Oceans Coming Out bei vielen HipHop-Heads für Unbehagen zu sorgen scheint. Murs zu Song und Video:
?Animal Style is a song I did for many reasons,? Murs explains. ?The first was to be an advocate for people close to me who are out, and those who have yet to come out. It?s also a love song, which is nothing new for me. But with this one I wanted to challenge the listener to ask themselves: Is the love shared by two people of the same gender, really that different than the love I have for my partner of the opposite sex? And finally, I just felt it was crucial for some of us in the hip hop community to speak up on the issues of teen suicide, bullying, and the overall anti-homosexual sentiment that exist within hip hop culture. I felt so strongly about these issues and this song that I had to do a video that would command some attention, even if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. Even if it came at the cost of my own comfort.?
Mit dem Westcoast-Underground geht es weiter, denn das Mannheimer Produzenteam Snowgoons versammelt auf dem Track „What That West Like„, der dem am 17. Juli erscheinenden Doppelalbum „Snowgoons Dynasty“ entstammt, gleich eine Handvoll versierter MCs von der Leftcoast. Mit dabei sind Planet Asia, Krondon, Banish, Ras Kass und Aims.
Zu guter Letzt ein superlyrischer MC aus Queens, der von einem legendären, kalifornischen Indie-Label vertrieben wird. Die Rede ist natürlich von Homeboy Sandman und Stones Throw Records. Der Song „Dag, Philly Too“ ist allerdings bislang unveröffentlicht. Das Video wurde in London geschossen.
